Congolese judoka, Rodrick Kuku Ndongala was the first DRC athlete to compete at Rio Olympic game on 7 August 2016. He lost to Dominican contended Wander Mateo.
As for other Congolese athletes expected to feature in the games, 5,000-metre runner Alice Kamuchanga Beatrice will be competing on 16 August, and will be followed by 49-kg taekwondo athlete Risa Keleku a day after. Kamongwa Salukombo Makorobondo participating in the marathon on 21 August 2016 will be the last Olympian from the team DRC.
Fifty four African countries are competing in the Rio Olympics with a total of 1,025 athletes, including four from the DRC.
The games will be running from 5 to 21 August 2016 in Rio, Brazil.
