kolDRC government signed on 6 August 2016 a 10 million US Dollar partnership agreement with South African company Syntell for a project aimed at modernising road traffic in the country.

Introducing it to the public, Rchard Makwala, Advisor to the Minister of Transport, indicated that “the project will help better manage road traffic, strengthen road digitalised prevention and security, and enhance the collection of road fines for the government”. It will further “put in place a reliable database of vehicles owners and enhance traffic robots equipment,” Mkwala added.

Syntell has accepted to pre-finance the project and expects to offset the financing through revenues collected from road fines.
