In an interview broadcast on Tuesday (June 20th) on Radio France Internationale (RFI), President of the opposition party Engagement pour la Citoyenneté et le Développement (Commitment for Citizenship and Development (ECiDe)) and Rally leader, Matin Fayulu, said that the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Joseph Kabila, must head off at the end of 2017.

« We wanted to avoid the bloodbath, but Mr. Kabila did not understand. Now we have decided that Mr. Kabila must step down at the end of this year, » said Martin Fayulu.

According to Martin Fayulu, the Rally will soon hold a conclave to reflect on how to get Joseph Kabila out of power.Moreover, the Congolese opponent acknowledged that the Rally has weakened after the death of the leader of the Opposition, Etienne Tshisekedi, on the last February 1st.

« We are weakened, that has to be recognized. We cannot replace Etienne Tshisekedi with a magic wand. We were not prepared to replace him. There was a hasty restructuring that caused damage within the Rally. But we will soon enter the conclave after which there will be strong resolutions to revitalize the Congolese people, » he stressed
