The support of the United Nations to the electoral process in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is continuing. This aid, which is mainly focused on air transport thanks to the cargo planes of the UN mission in the DRC, allows the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) to transport its equipment from Kinshasa to the hard-to-reach antennas.

At this stage all the equipment made available to Monusco by the Ceni was transported to the indicated destinations. To date, a total of 1,800 tons of electoral materials have been transported to Bukavu, Mbandaka, Lubumbashi, Gemena, Mbuji-Mayi…

Apart from transport, the UN also provides the Ceni with storage warehouses, equipment and handling equipment for airport maneuvers. In the coming days, operations will begin at operational area number 4.

Two of the Monusco flying aircraft were deployed in Bandundu-Ville in anticipation of the launch of operations in this area.
