A Congolese woman from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), by the name of Aora Ekembe, 29 year old, was sentenced on Tuesday 13 June to twelve years’ imprisonment by the assize court in Orleans (center) for having killed her host with 37 stab wounds in the thorax and neck, reports a dispatch Agence France Presse (AFP), published this Wednesday, June 14.

The Congolese woman was liable to life imprisonment because her victim, a native of Sierra Leone, was considered a vulnerable person, the article said, adding that, at the hearing, the accused assured that her host had first assaulted her after surprising her while snooping cocaine.

« I struck blows at a man, but I have never had the will to kill. I acted out of fear, « she said, reports the same source.

As of 21 November 2014, concludes this AFP article, Aora Ekembe had killed 46-year-old Kandeh Kamara at his home, where the Congolese young woman, mother of a six-month-old girl, had taken refuge.
