The electoral machine has been idling in Kinshasa since the beginning of the revision of the electoral register almost a month and a half ago.

In the Municipality of Ngaliema, several hundred of people who came to register in a center of the Camp Luka neighborhood were surprised to find, for four days, that the agents of the Electoral Commission were not able to work due to lack of supply in fuel.

« It’s been four days since we are coming without getting our voter cards. In some centers we are told of lack of supply of papers and plastic case, others are out of stock of fuel and in others it is the machines that have broken down, « says a resident of this neighborhood.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the operations of revision of the electoral rolls in Kinshasa, several dysfunctions have been deplored, notably the lack of dexterity of the agents (enrollers) of the CENI. The latter had promised to do better as its operators became more familiar with the kits.

On the Opposition side, this is perceived as a strategy put in place to limit the number of registered in the capital, deemed to be the stronghold of the opposition. The electoral commission, for its part, recognizes the few logistical problems that may arise but ensures that « for each problem there is a solution ».
