The African Human Rights Association (Asadho) is disappointed with the presidential decision admitting the Congolese police officer, John Numbi, in the « national order + national heroes + Kabila-Lumumba », whereas he is accused of having been involved in the murders of Floribert Chebeya and Fidèle Bazama.

« It must be said that the news of this order is a big surprise for us all the more so because in the context of the case Floribert Chebeya, Mr. John Numbi was suspended from his duties for investigative reasons and that to date, there is no indication that this measure has been lifted. It should also be remembered that the same gentleman is wanted in Senegal for the same acts, that is to say, by international justice for the murder of Floribert Chebeya and Fidèle Bazama », said the national president of the Asadho, Jean-Claude Katende, joined by KINSHASATIMES.CD

For this human rights defender, this is a big surprise, because, he says,

« To raise someone at this level, he must be an irreproachable person, irreproachable with regard to the law, but also with regard to his fellow citizens … Many Congolese think that Mr. John Numbi is involved in the assassination of Mr. Floribert Chebeya, given the testimony by Mr. Paul Milambwe who, by means of the camera, witnessed the murder of Floribert Chebeya. So, it is a great disappointment … Mr John Numbi, though he has been suspended, continues to be in the good graces of the government, the regime in place.

Fiercely opposed to this decision, which lists a total of eight senior police officers admitted as such, Asadho intends to issue a statement that will disapprove of this decision, which they say does not meet the necessary conditions for a person like John Numbi to be raised to that rank.
